If you must know, diaper rash normally happens during a long exposure to a dirty diaper particularly through moisture associated with urine or soiled with stool. It can also be caused by food allergies, yeast infections, sensitivity to the diaper, digestive problems, and poorly washed diapers. The symptoms for diaper rash include inflammation, red skin, and even blisters so make sure to watch out for these signs and look for a remedy right away.

In order for you to speed up the healing process and provide your child some comfort against diaper rash, here are some natural, home remedies that you can try:

Vinegar – A stale urine is usually an alkaline by nature and it can easily burn or irritate a baby’s skin just like what an acid does. In order for you to balance out the high pH levels, you can use vinegar for it. If you are using cloth diapers, you can rinse it in a vinegar solution containing ½ cup of vinegar plus half a bucket of water. Also, try making another weak vinegar solution containing 1 tsp of white vinegar plus 1 cup water and use it to wipe your baby’s butt when you change the diaper. This process will make your baby’s skin immune to yeast.

Petroleum Jelly – Every time you change a diaper, it is recommended that you apply some sort of a protective coating on your baby’s soft skin. For this instance, petroleum jelly is one of the recommended coatings. This will help protect the baby’s skin against the irritating effects of stool and urine.

Oatmeal – Oatmeal is rich in protein and that can help soothe your baby’s sensitive skin and is helpful in preserving the natural protective barrier. It also has saponin (a chemical compound) wherein it aides in removing dirt and unwanted oils from the pores of your skin.

Coconut Oil – This ingredient has antimicrobial and antifungal properties wherein they are helpful in treating diaper rash. In addition, it can have a healing and soothing effect on your baby’s skin.

Breast Milk – Breast milk is effective in fighting off infection and it can even soothe the baby’s skin in the process. In fact, it is probably the best, natural, and least expensive way to cure your baby’s diaper rash. Also, you can guarantee that there is zero possibility that it can trigger any sort of allergic reaction.

Plantain Oil – If you want your baby to feel relieved from the pain caused by diaper rash then plantain oil is the ideal solution for that. It also works best for diaper rash that is triggered by an allergic reaction.

With these natural remedies, you don’t necessarily have to risk your baby’s soft skin with other forms of ingredients. Also, there’s a huge possibility that you can find most of them at the comfort of your own home.
